The above line goes to the lead singer of Band of Horses. His other awesome quote of the night? "Okay, fake last song!" (This before they played "The General Specific" and then came back for an encore of "Our Swords," "The Funeral" (yay!) and then a second encore of "Detlef Schempf." Mmm... But I'm getting ahead of myself.)
I was so happy when Erin said she'd go with me to this show, because, as those of you who were fans of my top fives know, I had a severe desire to see them, and I didn't particularly want to go to Shepherd's Bush by myself (although I would have - Mom, you didn't hear that).
The Shepherd's Bush Empire was a seriously cool venue - carvings and velvet seats like the Capitol Theater in SLC, except a little older, and no seats below. It actually reminded me a lot of the Hammersmith Apollo where I saw Mraz last time.
The opening band was from New York, and they were pretty decent despite being called The Virgins. :) They were pretty rocking, and we got a good solid beat to change our heart rates.
Now for the main event. Band of Horses was seriously amazing. They didn't really tell stories or even tell jokes (although quote #3 - "I'd like to thank Beer for giving me a hangover today . . ." - classy, no?), but the music was solid. The sound was huge, and for a band that pretends they are lumberjacks and looks so hicka shicka, they were pretty rockin'. We heard a couple of new songs, but the old stuff was amazing, and I don't think they left out any of my favorites. I wish everyone could hear "Is There a Ghost" live. WOW.
Also, I went to see Jeremy Bentham earlier in the day - yay. I need to write a paper about him tomorrow, but for all of you Lost fans out there - Bentham's biggest ideas are as follows: Utilitarian thought goes for the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people, and people always behave better when they are being watched. Mull that one over, will you? Anyway, Jeremy was glad to see me and I him, and we are as tight as ever, so don't worry.

I hope you told Jeremy hello for me.
Oh, utilitarianism. It's not one of my favorite philosophies. Also, I did not know that Bentham created the panopticon a couple of centuries earlier than Foucault.
